Handwriting Groups for Children
(Six-Week Sessions)
Using a multi-sensory approach that combines tactile, visual, kinesthetic and auditory cues,
children will move quickly from forming basic shapes
to writing neatly and legibly, while having fun and building self-esteem.
Pre-Writing for Pre-K
This group covers the essential skills that young children need to build a strong
foundation for learning proper letter formation and mature handwriting in the future.
Focus of the group will be on:
- Strengthening finger muscles
- Attaining mature pencil grasps
- Practicing eye-hand coordination skills
- Gaining an understanding of positional language
- Learning the proper production of pre-writing shapes
Getting Ready to Write (Grades K-1)
This group quickly teaches proper letter formation for lower-case letters
by grouping them into clusters of similarly-formed letters. Focus of the group will be on:
- Preparing hands, eyes and body to write
- Singing to reinforce learning
- Learning lower-case letter formation
- Using fun, multi-sensory media to reinforce learning
Handwriting Detectives (Grades 2-3)
This group focuses on the common obstacles to handwriting legibility.
Children will improve handwriting through meaningful and fun writing exercises that address:
- Learning obstacles to handwriting legibility
- Identifying these obstacles in one's handwriting
- Reviewing handwriting samples of peers
Groups run for six 45-minute weekly sessions after school: Pre-writing for Pre K, Getting Ready to Write
(K-1), and Handwriting Detectives (Grades 2-3). Call us for schedule. $270/6 week session
